Optimal Routing Protocol for TCP-NewReno in Wireless Mobile Ad-hoc NetworksKeywords: MANET , TCP-NewReno , Simulation , Adhoc Network , Transport Protocol Abstract: Wireless communication has already entered in our daily life. A particular model of wireless networks is mobile ad hoc network (MANET) which can be made operational anywhere without the need for any fixedbackbone infrastructure. Due to the absence of fixed backbone there are a plenty of problems in applying the well developed concepts of routing, transport layer, auto-configuration, security and co-operation to MANET. TCP-NewReno is a relatively newer protocol proposed for the wireless networks to work at transport level. DSDV, DSR and AODV are three largely used and studied routing protocols, and is good candidates for implementation in commercial ad-hoc networks. Thus understanding and evaluating how they work together with TCP-NewReno can lead to useful facts. In this paper simulation results obtained after the simulation of TCP-NewReno using these three routing protocols have been presented. It has been found that DSDV combined with this protocol is suitable for delay and jitter sensitive applications. It has also been found that window size does not impact the throughput and delay. In this work open source simulation tool, ns-2, has been used.
