Tensor Fasciae Suralis - An Unusual VariationKeywords: Variant muscle , Accessory muscle , Tensor Fasciae Suralis , biceps femoris , semitendinosus . Abstract: The present case report is an incidental finding of a variant muscle in the lower limb during routine cadaveric dissection. An unusual muscle was found in the right lower limb of a 55 years old male cadaver. It was attached to the belly of semitendinosus and terminated as a tendon by giving slips to inferior peroneal retinaculum, peroneal trochlea of calcaneus and tuberosity of 5th metatarsal. Based on its attachments, the muscle was labelled as tensor fasciae suralis. The awareness of this variant may prevent its misinterpretation as a pathological entity by clinicians and radiologist.
