Sherubtse Student Leadership Program: Course Development, Implementation, and Progress Monitoring

Leadership is a quality inherent in all people that can make itself apparent at various times. It is also a concrete set of skills that can be taught, learned, and practiced. The Sherubtse Student Leadership Program is a certificate-level experiential learning course designed to give current and future leaders the tools necessary to be successful in their ventures within the college, in their professional and personal lives, or in their communities. Students from a variety of academic disciplines and personality types enroll in the course; to date, the program has graduated 128 students. Feedback and other data collected throughout the course are analyzed here which paint a picture of a program that is making excellent progress. Specific details on pedagogical strategies, collaborative efforts with Renaissance College in Canada, and future prospects for the course are also provided herein.
