Welcomed and Unwelcomed Actors of Middle East's Sociopolitical ChangeKeywords: revolt , smart power” , modernism , capitalism , fundamentalism Abstract: The present research aims at determining whether the current socio-political transformations in the Middle East are the results of an internal need for change, or rather the effects of the geostrategic interests of the U.S.? Following this question, we stress that the current political order in the Islamic world – that is in the Arab states with authoritarian, often dictatorial regimes, such as Iran and Libya – is the mere result of the overlapping collaboration of the two categories of participants” and interests.
