Riflessioni sull’attualità dell’antisemitismo cristiano e risposte della chiesa al popolo ebraico Reflections on the current state of Christian anti-Semitism and the Church’s response to the Jewish people

La persecuzione degli ebrei ha origini antiche, ma l’epoca storica in cui l’intera umanità ha preso atto del grande odio per questo popolo è segnata sicuramente dagli andamenti della seconda guerra Mondiale, quando più di 6.000.000 di ebrei persero la vita. Si pensa erroneamente che tali persecuzioni abbiano come punto di partenza il nazismo guidato dal leader politico Hitler, ben poco si conosce invece sulle origini cristiane dell’antisemitismo e sui pregiudizi seminati verso gli ebrei dalle varie denominazioni cristiane (cattolica, protestante, ortodossa). Dopo un iniziale studio sull’antigiudaismo, viene anche trattata l’importante e necessaria opera di riconciliazione – attraverso un percorso di pedagogia interculturale – tra ebrei e cristiani, per troppi anni separati da muri di incomprensioni e di mancanza di perdono. The persecution of the Jews has ancient origins, however the whole of humanity became aware of the hatred felt towards this people with event of the Second World War when more that six million Jews lost their lives. Often it is erroneously thought that this persecution began with the Nazis lead by Hitler, however much less is known about the Christian origins of anti-Semitism and the prejudices spread by the various Christian denominations ( Catholic, Protestant, Orthodox). Following an initial survey of anti-Semitism we approach the important and necessary question of reconciliation between Jews and Christians from an inter-cultural perspective, after years of incomprehension and lack of pardon.
