A primary six science investigation project -- "Force and simple mechanics"

This paper provides a summary of experience gained from a primary six science investigation activity. The activity was one of the initiatives of the "Schools Around the World" project working in collaboration with a local primary school. Students were guided through the process of science investigation to develop their understanding about the topic "Force and simple mechanics". The paper describes the considerations for designing, performing, and assessing science experiments; and the problems that teachers or students encountered in the process. Apart from a description of the process, the paper also included some suggested teaching materials, such as student worksheets, student learning journal, scoring rubrics and student guidelines, for assisting students during the learning process. The paper concludes with students' feedback, and the views as well as suggestions from the participating teachers and the project team.
