A social capital avaluation in the University environment: an Far West catarinense experienceAbstractThe concept of social capital related to the economic development of regions and countries began to gain importance in the 1990s. Nevertheless, its measurement is still facing some difficulties, because it requires a combination of statistical measures to find reliable results with the reality of community analysis. This study aimed to evaluate the level of social capital on college students of an institution of higher education with university courses in Management and Agronomy in three districts of the Extremo-Oeste of Santa Catarina: Maravilha, S o José do Cedro and S o Miguel do Oeste. Was used as a basis for literature based on studies of Macke (2006), Sarate and Macke (2007), and the model developed by Onyx and Bullen (2000), and descriptive method. We used the statistical tools of descriptive analysis, factor analysis, regression analysis and analysis of variance, with the aid of SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Science). The analysis of research findings took into account the sociocultural aspects of the study area and is therefore seeking to build relationships that are aligned with the specific and the endogenous forces of the site.
