Lung volume reduction surgery and lung transplantation in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease

Surgical techniques are an attractive conceptual approach to treat hyperinflation in these patients. Lung volume reduction surgery and lung transplantation are appropriate therapeutic options for a selected population with emphysema.
