Abstract:

The segment of family agriculture presents specific characteristics in its organization, like the utilization offamily labor, minor territorial dimension of the production unit and the logic or peasant rationalization isfocused to attend the demands of the own family and not immediately the necessities of the market. Theseare some of the features which allowed their reproduction meanwhile the process of capitalist development.On the other hand, these characteristics represent the possibility of transition of one model of conventionalagriculture, registered in the excessive use of the natural sources of sustainability (ecological, economical,social, cultural, space/geographic). The agroecology intends, this way, to reestablish the harmonious relationsbetween men and its natural space, minimizing the impact of the agricultural activities in the environmentand maximizing the agricultural benefits beyond the rural space. This way, this work, intends to set aprofile of production of agroecological base in the city of Pelotas/RS, making a general characterization ofit, identifying its situation and importance as a productive strategy to the family farmers of the city.
