Obesity, aging and cardiovascular risk in brazil: possible solutions for actual problems

Objective: to analyze, in literature, studies on the current situation in Brazil in regard to obesity, aging and cardiovascular risk, and to present a strategy to solucionate problems. Method: this is a qualitative study. We used Medline, Lilacs and Scielo data bases to search for scientific information on the subject. Results: articles show a great prevalence of obesity in Brazil, specially, between the elderly. Conclusion: the necessity of implementation of obesity prevention and treatment programs was verified due to the high prevalence of this disease, mainly between elderly, that could raise the cardiovascular risk.
