O mito moderno da Mulher Maravilha

Resumo: Considerando a perspectiva grega androcêntrica a partir da qual esse mito é tradicionalmente narrado, as Amazonas seriam mulheres selvagens, descendentes do deus da guerra Ares. Capazes de retirar um dos seios a fim de manusear melhor o arco eflecha, eram consideradas inimigas dos homens. A personagem em quadrinho Mulher Maravilha surge no meio da Segunda Guerra, em dezembro de 1941. Seu autor W. M. Marston atribui-lhe uma origem guerreira como princesa das Amazonas, Diana, filha darainha Hipólita. Ela decide abandonar seu reino para acompanhar o capit o Steve Trevor, membro da inteligência do exército. Os quadrinhos refletiam o momento político conturbado e a Mulher Maravilha, munida dos superpoderes das Amazonas,encarna o ideal militar de bravura. Suas miss es estar o relacionadas à guerra e seu disfarce será o de uma tenente da marinha que usa óculos, Diana Prince.
