A importancia da manuten o de bons níveis de flexibilidade nos trabalhadores que executam suas atividades laborais sentadosKeywords: Sitting Posture – Flexibility – Work Gymnastic Class Abstract: Why do lumbar pains, as they are called, attack more those who work in a sitting position? Researchers suspect that this ailment has a narrow relationship with the gradual shortening of the thigh’s front muscles – ischiatic tibial, which ends on immobilizing the hip’s articulation and, as consequence, inclines the lumbar segment of the spine forward, due to the excessive use of the chair. In that sense, this work intends to evaluate the influence of a specific program of gymnastics class at work, that could soften the problem caused by posture.This study counted with the participation of 10 dressmakers of a textile industry located on Dois Vizinhos – PR. Flexibility tests, such as sitting and reaching, were realized before the beginning of the referred program and 6 months after it. The results, which were compared statistically (test t), showed a significant improvement on the hip’s flexibility. This fact was reinforced by the expressive decrease of complaints about lumbar pains, which lowered from 100% to 10%. It was also verified that after the introduction of the gymnastics program, the number of medical certificates on sick-leaves dropped from 6 to 2 among the participants.
