La temática pastoril y sus variantes clásicas como modelo discursivo en los cantes de “El Cabrero”

This paper attempts to highlight the similarities between such apparently different genres such as pastoral and flamenco through the analysis of El cabrero’s discourse. Goatherd and singer, like any other goatherd in the Classical tradition, he uses his popular flamenco songs to express big ideas and social demands. For this to be possible, though, he need to be at the same time both connoisseur (as a poet) and transgressor (as a rustic goatherd and popular singer) of the classical pastoral model and the social conventions of his time.
