ESTUDO COMPARATIVO MORFOMéTRICO DO PAPO DO CARCARá (Polyborus plancus)

The biometric analysis is important for better understanding of the anatomy and possiblecorrelation with the physiology. The research aimed to evaluate the specific biometric of the crop of eightSouthern Caracara (Polyborus plancus), four males and four females, by weighing in grams and measured incentimeters from the crop and subsequent comparison between males and females. The birds were anesthetized,euthanized and eviscerated and crop exposed on a surface so that no stretch of the organ and collected data onweight with a precision scale and measured with the aid of a tape measure in millimeters.T he data wereanalyzed statistically by Student's test with significance level p 0.05. It was concluded that females havegreater length and lower weight compared to crop of male caracara.A análise biométrica é importante para maior conhecimento da anatomia e possível correla ocom a fisiologia. A pesquisa teve como objetivos específicos a avalia o da biometria do papo de oito carcarás(Polyborus plancus), sendo quatro machos e quatro fêmeas, por meio de pesagem em gramas e medida emcentímetros do papo e posterior compara o entre machos e fêmeas. As aves foram anestesiadas, eutanasiadas eevisceradas e o papo exposto em uma superfície de modo que n o houve estiramento da víscera e colhido osdados de peso com uma balan a de precis o e medida com o auxílio de uma fita métrica milimetrada. Os dadosanotados foram submetidos a análise estatística pelo teste de Student com o nível de significancia p0,05.Concluiu-se que, as fêmeas possuem maior comprimento e menor peso de papo se comparado aos carcarás machos.
