"El método analítico en la obra de Andrés Bello" ["The Analytical Method in the Work of Andrés Bello"]

This paper explores an often neglected aspect of Andrés Bello’s Gramática: its integration into an analytical method on which other works of the author are also based. Without a doubt, Bello’s main concerns were the delatinization of grammar for the development of a system based on the characteristics of Spanish, and the simplification of orthography based on rational principles. In trying to accomplish these goals, he made a substantial contribution to the spreading of reading and writing in the Spanish-speaking Americas. He also pursued another aim: language teaching as a means to form clear ideas.
