"Dialogia das tradi es de investiga o: comensurabilidade e n ocomplementaridade" ["Dialogism of Research Traditions: Commensurability and Non-Complementarity"]

Theoretical pluralism gives rise to competing theories that seek to understand what their place in science is and what is the place of others. Undoubtedly, relations obtain between the various theories that influence the epistemological stance of the researcher. In the history and philosophy of science, these relations have been understood in terms of incommensurability (or the denial of existing relations) or complementarity (a theory explains what another cannot). In this article, the relations in question are understood in dialogical terms, acknowledging the peaceful coexistence of rival theories and drawing attention to the appearance of interference, especially with regard to disputes over anomalous phenomena.
