Abstract:

Stories are considered an essential part of children’s lives and have been pedagogically integral to the courses. This study focuses on how students of English Language Teaching (ELT) program perceive the world of stories for young learners. Within the framework of study, stories prepared in the digital form using Moviemaker, multimedia authoring program, were uploaded to the Facebook course group. Collected videos have been analyzed following the content analysis method and coded seeking answers about the story topic, characters and reflected moral values. The results revealed that in their digital stories, ELT students highlighted “friendship” based on helping and supporting others followed by “philanthropy” while the heroes were largely characterized as male children or animals. The results could be of help in interpreting children’s world from the perspective of ELT students.
