FRONTEIRA ETNOCULTURAL E DESENVOLVIMENTO RURAL: O PRODUTO TURíSTICO “TREM DO PANTANAL” NO DISTRITO DE TAUNAY

This paper aims to analyze the indigenous and non-indigenous people’s prospects for rural development in District of Taunay, after launching the tourist product "Pantanal Train". The present work is worry about understanding the process of the rural development, as well as the local expectations faced with the return of Pantanal Train. In order to achieve this objective, it was established a theoretical-methodological script for fieldwork in Taunay with the following data collection techniques and procedures: bibliographical research, direct observation, collection of oral testimonies of Indians and non-Indians, guided by a set of semi-structured questions. It was found that there are frustrations of many residents of District of Taunay related to the restructuring process of that rural area, in view of promoting tourism in Pantanal region. In fact, local expectations and interests were not considered in planning the Pantanal Train. Therefore, it’s necessary to reassess the script of that tourist attraction, in view of the needs, interests and local expectations expressed in the statements. People in Taunay, indigenous and non-indigenous, must be involved actively in this process so that various social segments can expose your interests, agreements and disagreements, and thus to promote rural development based on local resources and partnerships with governmental and non-governmental organizations.
