SISTEMA AQUíFERO BOA VISTA: “ESTADO DE ARTE” DO CONHECIMENTO E PERSPECTIVAS

The purpose of this work is to make a brief diagnosis of the state of knowledge of the Boa Vista Aquifer System (BVAS), evaluating the steps necessary for its characterization, both about the deficiencies and gaps in information about the system. The study was based on literature search, data provided by the company managing the municipal supply system and results of research conducted by the authors. It was felt that knowledge about the impacts on groundwater quality in Boa Vista city is still in its early stages when compared to other capitals. And the characterization of BVAS and its importance for public supply and agricultural activities is a topic that deserves systematic investigation in the long term. Their studies are needed to identify the reservoir rock anisotropy and heterogeneities, characterization of the hydrological system - in particular the behavior of recharge, environmental monitoring - for such studies will enable to identify the processes of contamination of reservoirs and determine remediation practices.
