POLíTICAS PúBLICAS, PLANEJAMENTO E GEST O URBANOS NO AMBIENTE METROPOLITANO: ESTUDOS SOBRE A REGI O METROPOLITANA DE BELéM

In the present urban dynamics in the Brazilian cities, the metropolises are the key elements in the dissemination and expansion of the urbanization process of the society and the territory, being a reference in the national urban setting. Despite their important role in the process of Brazilian urbanization, these cities are not getting any special treatment from the government, in terms of the implementation of urban public policies, although some actions on the issue of metropolization have already been implemented. Therefore, it is important to reflect on the current types of intervention in the Brazilian metropolitan spaces, from the viewpoint of urban planning and management. This article attempts to track the development policies that guided the production of the Brazilian metropolises, with the metropolitan policies for the Metropolitan Region of Belém (MRB) as empirical reference.
