Mechanisms of sexual exploitation of children and teenagers around the river port of Pucallpa Mecanismos de explotación sexual de ni as y adolescentes en los alrededores del puerto fluvial de Pucallpa

The sexual exploitation of children and adolescents is a phenomenon that has grown with the expansion of extractive industries (timber, oil, minerals and gas) in the Peruvian Amazon. The article is part of a long research in the city of Pucallpa and the route north of the Ucayali River. Its central objective is to demonstrate the economic dynamics of the mechanisms of commercial sexual exploitation of children and adolescents around the river port. We study the mechanisms of exploitation of local bars and restaurants in the port, the demand and perceptions of sexual exploitation of children, and the economic logic of this phenomenon. This is a business attached to the trade in alcoholic beverages and food, and not due to an organized criminal logical, but to a familiar system of exploitation. La explotación sexual de ni as y adolescentes es un fenómeno que ha crecido con la expansión de las industrias extractivas (de madera, petróleo, minerales y gas) en la Amazonía peruana. El artículo es parte de una larga investigación en la ciudad de Pucallpa y la ruta norte del río Ucayali, y tiene como objetivo central mostrar la dinámica económica de los mecanismos de explotación sexual comercial de ni as y adolescentes en los alrededores del principal puerto fluvial. Se estudia los mecanismos de explotación local de los bares y restaurantes del puerto, la demanda y las percepciones sobre la explotación sexual de las ni as, y las lógicas económicas que ello implica. Se trata de un negocio cuya rentabilidad está anexada al comercio de bebidas alcohólicas y alimentos; y que no obedece a una lógica criminal organizada sino a un conjunto de redes familiares.
