Abstract:

This article is about the study of Japanese immigrants in Brazil, particularly those from the island of Okinawa to the city of Campo Grande, capital of Mato Grosso do Sul, the second largest Japanese community in Brazil. The first is located in Sao Paulo. The aim was to investigate the particularities of the cultural integration of the Japanese immigrant to the new territory from the soba, food typical of the cuisine of Okinawa that was appropriated and incorporated the customs and habits of local people. For this, they use library resources, reports, interviews and direct observation. Focused on the history of occupation and ownership of the territory until the arrival to the city of Campo Grande, capital of Mato Grosso do Sul, where these immigrants settled, forming the second largest Japanese utinanchu the country. In general, we aimed to contribute to understanding the roots of Okinawan immigrants and their descendents through work, mode of living and their integration into society.
