A Study on the Definition of Intervention Technics for Individual Defence and Aggression in Psychiatry: The example of Bak rk yKeywords: Psychiatry , aggression , physical violence , individual defence technics , education Abstract: Objective: The aim of the present research is to evince the efficiency of technics for individual defence and intervention for agression that might be applied individually or in team in order to control agressive behaviour and physical violence of patients in the psychiatry clinics by the means of preeducation and post-education tests. Met-hods: The research is undertaken with 109 nurses who participated into ‘The course of individual defence and intervention to agression technics’ in January- March 2010 in Bak rk y Mental Hospital. Re-sults: The qualities of the nurses participated into the research are as follows: their ages change between 21 and 59 and age-avarage is 36.77±8.9; of % 63.3 women , of %62.4 married, of %41.3 Graduate of Health High School, of %56.0 clinical nurse, of %57.8 those who were exposed to physical violence by patients. Regarding results revealed during the research, we reached a general total point for 24 questions about behaviours and level of knowledge of patient demonstrating physical aggression. This point ranges between 24 and 120. When the result is converted into the centenarian system, the statistical difference of 5,69 related to the increase in the total points of post-education compared to pre-education level is. Conc-lu-si-on: The present research maintains that the ratio of the physical agression staff-nurses working in psychiatry clinics are exposed is high, and apart from security precautions and security personel, it is essentially important for staff-nurses to know the personal defence technics, in terms of providing personal protection in emergency situations until professional help arrives.In addition to that it is also the fact that bed capacity in psychitry clinics are to be reduced to provide a theraupetic environment and more regulations concerning the precautions to increase security level of nurses are to be enacted.
