Descending colon interposition in a patient presenting with abdominal pain and acute appendicitis

Interposition of the descending colon between the kidney and the psoas major muscle is a rare hindgut anatomic variant. Presented herein is a case of descending colon interposition in a patient admitted with abdominal pain and acute appendicitis. Internal hernia was ruled out by laparoscopy.
