Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder prevalence in children from some primary schools in the city of Rosario, Santa Fe, ArgentinaKeywords: “Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder” , children , Rosario , Santa Fe Abstract: “Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder” (ADHD) has been characterized in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of the American Psychiatric Association (DSM-IV TR). Studies worldwide recorded a significant increase in the diagnosis of ADHD, resulting thus an increase in the consumption of psychostimulants drugs in primary school children .The objective of this evaluation is to determine the prevalence of ADHD and their treatment in school-age children i in the city of Rosario.A cross sectional study was conducted through voluntary anonymous surveys and for mothers, parents and / or guardians of children attending primary school educational establishments.2691 surveys were distributed, collected and answered 1474.Of these, 1.29% (n = 19) took psicof stimulants, and 0.68% (n = 10) of them take itat the moments of this surveys. 0.68% (n = 10) had a diagnosis of ADHD. Most were treated with methylphenidate. A child was engaged in psychological treatment alone.Although the literature on ADHD reports a prevalence between 3 and 7% in this revsión is lower. We used the drugs of choice for this condition, primarily methylphenidate, either alone or combined. We emphasize that the observed prevalence is much higher in men, forming these 90% of those diagnosed.
