Barriers In Implementing Community Based Kangaroo Mother Care In Low Income Community.

KMC is acceptable to most mothers admitted in hospitals. But little is known about mothers' continued unsupervised practice after discharge from hospitals. Objectives: To study average days of practice of Community Based KMC and to explore the barriers in implementing KMC at various level in low income community Methodology- Medical Officers & Staff nurses of two Maternity wards of Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation, mothers of the babies who delivered in these maternity homes interviewed to identify barriers.Results and observations- Average duration of KMC at home was 4.7 days ( + 3 days). Lack of co operation of family members & baby’s discomfort were the main barriers for mother.
