The amelioration of British West Indian slavery, 1750-1834: technical change and the plough

Discussion of technical adaption during the period of slavery, achieved through modified processing equipment, and greater attention to manuring, livestock, and fodder supplies. The author examines also the plough as a substitute for the hoe in cultivation.
