LA ASOCIACIóN DE DIVERTíCULO DE ZENKER Y ACALASIA Zenker`s diverticulum and acalasia

Se presenta el caso de un paciente de 88 a os, con disfagia y antecedentes de acalasia no tratada de veinte a os de evolución y síntomas de disfagia oro faríngea. Los exámenes radiológicos y endoscópicos identificaron además de la acalasia un divertículo de Zenker. Se realizó terapia paliativa con inyección de toxina botulínica en el esfínter esofágico inferior, con mejoría de los síntomas. Se hace una revisión de la rara coexistencia de estas dos patologías. An 88 year old patient has been observed. He is suffering from dysphagia and has a medical history of achalasia, which has had an evolution and has not bee treated for twenty years. He also has oropharynx dysphagia symptoms. In addition to the achalasia, the X-ray and endoscopy exams identified a Zenker diverticulum. Palliative or mitigating therapy was realized using botulinum toxin injection in the lower esophageal sphincter, with symptom improvement. A study is being made concerning the rare co-existence of these two pathologies.
