Este artículo presenta de forma critica la literatura reciente que en las ciencias sociales ha abordado el tema de los órdenes sociales, con el objeto de identificar cuáles son los diferentes enfoques con que este tema se aborda, el tipo de problemáticas o preguntas a las que se responde y los principales conceptos y debates implicados en su tratamiento y, con base en ello, puntualizaremos los principales desafíos que aún restan a la investigación social en este campo.
