Partial results regarding the selection of some nut tree hybrids in order to obtain generative mother plants

In Romania, the establishment of nut tree plantations is continuously expanding, yet the seeding material production has never raised up to the level of cultivators requirements.In our country, although the mother plants are confirmed as Targu Jiu 1, Secular and recently Portval, because of lack of seed tree materials, at present, most of the varieties are being grafted on saplings proceeded from a mixture of genotypes belonging to the species of Juglans regia.By studying the rich stock of germoplasma, present in the district of Gorj, 20 hybrids, that have appropriate features to their formation as mother plants have been collected, so that they might improve the existing variety.
