Phytochemical and Nutritional Potential Survey of A Plant Food Obtained from IndiaKeywords: Eulophia Ochreata , Phytochemicals , Minerals , Proximate composition. Abstract: Qualitative determination of chemical and nutritional composition of the tubers of Eulophia Ochreata an underexploited medicinal plant in India was carried out. Eulophia Ochreata tubers were found to be medium in crude protein (5.44%), carbohydrate (59.31%), Ash (9.1%), fibre (22.9%) and fat (3.25%). Mineral analysis of the tubers showed that they contain the following essential minerals: Sodium (1.62 mg/g), Potassium (4.63 mg/g), Calcium (7.37mg/g), Zinc (3.83 mg/g) and Iron (5.04mg/g).The phytochemical screening of the tubers revealed the presence of Alkaloids, Saponin, Steroid, and poly phenols.
