Parmi les Lua’, groupe de langue austro-asiatique de la province de Nan en Tha lande, une communauté se targue d’être garante de la prospérité de l’ensemble des habitants, très majoritairement ta , du territoire de l’ancienne principauté de Pua. Ils affirment être les seuls capables d’effectuer le culte aux esprits des princes , pourtant autrefois exclusivement réalisé par des princes ta . En examinant les discours et pratiques liés à ces anciens princes et aux rites qui leur sont adressés, l’article tente d’expliquer ce fait, et plus généralement de décrire les relations complexes qui unissent Lua’ et populations ta . Among the Lua, an Austro-Asiatic speaking group living in Nan province in Thailand, a community prides itself on being a guarantee of prosperity for all people, overwhelmingly tai, inhabiting the territory of the former Pua principality. They claim to be the only ones able to perform the worship to the “spirits of princes”, however once exclusively performed by Tai princes. By examining the discourses and practices associated with these ancient princes and rituals addressed to them, the article attempts to explain this paradox and, more generally, to describe the complex relationships that bind Lua’ and Tai population.
