Il s’agit ici d’étudier l’image de Bangkok, les représentations de cette très grande ville, à travers, d’une part une série de sept plans ou cartes, certains très anciens, d’autres récents, certains destinés à un public d’experts et de hauts fonctionnaires, d’autres aux voyageurs étrangers, voire aux touristes sexuels, d’autre part une nouvelle particulièrement significative par un romancier également architecte et enseignant. Le résultat est un ensemble d’images très contrastées, mais qui montrent un Bangkok indissociable des territoires qui l’entourent. This is a study of the image of Bangkok, of the representations of this very large city through, first a set of seven maps and plans, some of them very old but some published very recently, some of them drawn for experts and senior civil servants and some available to foreign travelers and even sex tourists, secondly an especially significant short-story written by a novelist who is also an architect and a university professor.
