PENGELOLAAN DAN PENDAYAGUNAAN ZAKAT BERBASIS MASJID DI YOGYAKARTA

The poverty rate in Indonesia has been increasing, including that happened in Yogyakarta. As the official programmes to elevate the poor are not significantly change the status of the poor, therefore it is important to consider zakat, as one of pillars of Islam, and its significance in distributing wealth and properties, particularly zakat which is managed by mosque. The article discusses the practice of zakat through the mosque in Yogyakarta. Taking 11 mosques in the province as examples, the article argues only 6 mosques has applied principles of professional management in zakat, whereas the others otherwise. Therefore, the article suggests the importance of managing zakat based on principles of transparency and productivity in order to better achieve the goal of zakat to reduce the number of the poor. Angka kemiskinan di Indonesia semakin meningkat, demikian juga yang terjadi di Yogyakarta. Berbagai program pemerintah untuk pengentasan kemiskinan masih belum cukup mampu menjadi solusi atas persoalan tersebut. Tulisan ini membahas signifikansi zakat dalam pengentasan kemiskinan, utamanya praktek zakat yang dikelola oleh masjid. Fokus utama masjid dalam diskusi artikel ini adalah 11 di wilayah Yogyakarta. Melalui pendekatan wawancara, observasi dan oah statistik, artikel ini menemukan bahwa hanya 6 masjid yang menerapkan prinsip profesionalisme dalam pengelolaan zakat. Karena itu, profesionalisme zakat melalui masjid perlu ditingkatkan agar angka kemiskinan juga bisa terkoreksi. Kata Kunci: Masjid, kemiskinan, zakat.
