El MERCOSUR y la formación de una comunidad pluralista de seguridad en el Cono Sur

From the perspective of integration theory, this article analyses the effects of Mercosur in the international security of the Southern Cone. The paper argues that integration processes have involved an increased level of co-operation in the sphere of security and defense among member countries, as well as a reduction in mutual distrust and conflict hypothesis. Given this, the paper puts forward that this framework of stability and détente has meant the construction of a pluralist community on security issues on the sub region.
