A individualiza o em Ulrich Beck: análise da sociedade contemporanea (Individualization in Ulrich Beck: an analysis of contemporary society)

Resumo: A individualiza o é tema da análise sociológica contemporanea e Ulrich Beck analisa esse processo no contexto de mudan as da primeira para a segunda modernidade. Na moderniza o reflexiva, marcada por riscos, há transforma es relacionadas ao mundo do trabalho, à família, à política e ao lugar e papel do indivíduo na sociedade, ocorrendo a reflexividade da modernidade sobre ela mesma. Nesse processo, o indivíduo passou a ser a unidade referencial do social. A individualiza o é ambivalente, pois, ao libertar o indivíduo de padr es e referências tradicionais, implica novas liberdades, marcada por riscos. Para a análise da sociedade, Beck prop e alguns critérios que ser o abordados neste artigo. Abstract: Individualization is one of the issues discussed in the contemporary sociological analysis. Ulrich Beck is one of the authors who analyze this process in the context of the changing from the first to the second modernity. The second modernity, which is marked by risks, experiences a reflexive modernization, in which significant changes took place in the work sphere, in the family, in politics and in the placing and role of individuals. Therefore, what occurs is the reflexivity of modernity upon itself. In this process, the individuals became the referential unit of society. Individualization is ambivalent, in the sense that while it sets the individuals free from traditional standards and references, it also entails new types of freedom, characterized by impending risks. Beck proposes some criteria for the analysis of society, which will be examined in this article.
