BRINGING CULTURES TOGETHER AS THE SCHOOL’S PRIME OBJECTIVE: A PRE-SCHOOL AND PRIMARY EDUCATION PROJECT.Keywords: European Higher Education Area , Intercultural Education , Graduate in Teacher Training. Abstract: Changes in the social and educational model have brought about a multicultural and multilingual school. The new context offers many possibilities and numerous learning experiences. However, at the same time, it requires an adaptation in the teaching-learning process and in the educational centres. According to the LOE’s Institutional Approaches’ regulation, the first level is the School Plan. It can be defined as a management Tool, which is coherent with the school context and which lists and defines the school’s identity guidelines, it formulates its objectives and expresses the institution’s organisational structure (Antúnez et al, 1987).Taking as a reference the school’s organisational structure that enables us to establish the identity guidelines of this new context, an intercultural education project has been carried out in the state school Carlos Ruiz de Galapagar. Pre-school and Primary graduate students at Centro Superior de Estudios Universitarios La Salle in Madrid have participated in the project with all the primary students at the Carlos Ruiz de Galapagar school. The experience has been included in the school’s Intercultural Conference which was celebrated on the second trimester of the school year, on the international day against racism and xenophobia. Together with students and teachers, the families have joined this celebration by providing own materials and objects from each culture and cooking typical dishes from each country for all the participants to taste.
