How to conceptualize the tragedy of Bosnia: Civil, ethnic, religious war or...?

This essay argues that the events in Bosnia cannot be properly interpreted through a discourse that focuses on war. The genocidal events were not the byproduct of war. Instead, the Balkan wars were the outcome of the intent to commit genocide.
