Herbarium specimens of Toxicodendron P. Mill. section Toxicodendron (Anacardiaceae) as tools for teaching basic concepts in Plant Taxonomy

Four undergraduate-level lesson plans are presented utilizing herbarium specimens of Toxicodendron sect. Toxicodendron (the poison ivies, oaks, and sumacs) to teach basic concepts of plant taxonomy. The benefits of using this taxon in the post-secondary classroom are discussed. Tables within the text and sub-sections within the lesson plans are provided to assist instructors with integrating these lesson suggestions into their pre-existing curricula.
