Abstract:

Knowledge & awareness are extremely essential for any student for his/ her career. For gaining the same , reading ,listening, observation , reflection, imagination ,creativity & envisioning are the process to be used. Of them observation & listening may be construed as results of primary sensations,viz.,visual & auditory sensation. Reading & Listening are the vital cognitive processes which help in acquisition of knowledge &awareness .And , reflection , imagination, creativity & envisioning are the outcomes of the processing of the knowledge & awareness acquired . Knowledge & awareness help in building intelligence , skills, abilities& competencies. In the competitive environment , higher the knowledge& awareness an individual possesses greater are the chances of his success. At the post graduate education level, hence, it is vital for students to read & listen a lot to gain vast knowledge &awareness . Hence, the importance of reading & listening needn't be overemphasized. Reading is an important component of learning. Learning may be defined as the life-long continuous process of acquisition, retention, recall & effective utilization of knowledge, skills, abilities, competencies & awareness. Learning may be acquired through various sources, by different methods, times, places, disciplines, degrees, frequencies, speeds & under various circumstances. Acquired learning must be retained, otherwise, it may lead to waste of time, energy & resources. Ability to retain is a crucial aspect of gaining knowledge & awareness> Information overload mandates the wise & selective retention coupled with timely & regular updating to maintain sound knowledge base . Ability to recall the relevant knowledge at a sustainabletime & in demanding circumstances ensures its usefulness . knowledge must be utilized to achieve one's goals & objectives , in whatever sphere of life they may be.
