Sally Macarthur unternimmt mit Rückgriff auf Philosophien von Deleuze und Guattari bzw. deren feministische Weiterentwicklung u. a. durch Grosz und Braidotti eine Neupositionierung der Figur der Komponistin in der zeitgen ssischen Musikproduktion. Auf der Grundlage von Denkkonzepten wie Differenz‘, Virtualit t‘, Werden‘ oder Deterritorialisierung‘ dekonstruiert Macarthur die Master-Narrative von autonomer, innovativer, sch pferischer, m nnlicher Musikproduktion. Ihre Thesen exemplifiziert Macarthur durch die Analyse der Musik der Komponistinnen Sofia Gubaidulina, Elena Kats-Chernin und Anne Boyd sowie in der Auseinandersetzung mit den Bedingungen und Inhalten des gegenw rtigen Kompositionsunterrichts. Sally Macarthur undertakes a repositioning of the figure of the female composer in contemporary music production drawing on the philosophies of Deleuze and Guattari, resp. their feminist development through Grosz and Braidotti (among others). Based on concepts such as ‘difference,’ ‘virtuality,’ ‘becoming,’ or ‘deterritorialization,’ Macarthur deconstructs the master narrative of autonomous, innovative, creative, male music production. Macarthur exemplifies her theses with the analysis of music by the composers Sofia Gubaidulina, Elena Kats-Chernin, and Anne Boyd as well as with the discussion of the conditions and contents of contemporary composition lessons.
