The analogy principle and the poetista narrative drawn by Julio CortázarKeywords: Analogy , Julio Cortázar , Short story , Essay Abstract: This paper takes the concepts of analogy and figure drawn by Julio Cortázar to present some aspects of his poetry: the importance of the analogy principle, an element which brings the primitive man close to the poet; the concept of figure; the formulation of a “poetist” narrative, which aims at textual hybridity, metaphorical saturation and lyricism. The analogy principle reaches its highest point with the concept of figure, an unusual association between objects, ideas, images without an apparent logical relationship, but that, together, constitute another possible reality, in which the fantastic effect is present. Two texts, “Vaso de cristal com uma rosa dentro” and “Manuscrito achado ao lado de uma m o” briefly illustrate the confluence of all these elements in the Cortázar’s work.
