A study of the film semiotic in “The Telltale Heart” by Edgar Allan Poe adapted for The SimpsonsKeywords: “The Telltale Heart” , Edgar Allan Poe , The Simpsons Abstract: This paper is based on concepts related to film semiotic and intends to analyze the recreation of the short story “The Tell-Tale Heart”, by the American writer Edgar Allan Poe in The Simpsons. The episode we are reffering to is called “Lisa’s Rival”, which was directed by Mark Kirkland. However, our analysis is descriptive, not prescriptive, therefore we will not issue any value judgments in the recreation. Our interests in this paper is to understand the way the producers of The Simpsons created their intersemiotic translation. We will also understand how the phenomena of signs are articulated to suggest the most diverse effects on the pole receiver.
