The amnesty in newspaper headlines: a discoursive analysisKeywords: Discourse , Amnesty , Military Dictatorship Abstract: This article aims to construct a discoursive study of newspaper’s headlines from the military dictatorship period about the amnesty using the theoretical French Discourse Analysis, founded by Michel Pêcheux in 1969. We aim to discuss the functioning of verbal material relating it to the notions of ideology, memory, and subject, and interpreting how the sense is always involved and can always be another. Our analysis’ corpus consists of five headlines, originally published by the newspapers Folha de S. Paulo, Pasquim and Diário Popular, covering a period between June and August 1979.
