Treatment Outcome In A Patient With Complex Regional Pain Syndrome Due To Finger InjuryKeywords: Complex regional pain syndrome , Early diagnosis , Treatment , Multidisciplinary approach , Protocol Abstract: Complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS) is a complex problem regarding its diagnosis, choice of treatment, follow-up and a favorable treatment outcome. We report on a 50-year-old patient diagnosed with CRPS six weeks after an injury to his right hand finger. The patient was treated with medication and physical treatment for nine months. However, 20 months after the injury, functional deficit of the hand persisted and the treatment outcome was considered poor. We analyze possible causes for such an outcome in our case. A multidisciplinary approach with the use of established treatment protocols are the main prerequisites for optimal treatment outcomes.
