Identidade e representa o em pequenas estórias: o caso de imigrantes brasileiros

The objective of this paper is to analyze non-canonical narratives of discrimination, according to the Labovian model, but that conform to what Georgakopoulou (2007) calls “small stories”. Given the variety of situations in which narrative discourse emerges, such an analysis is based upon the premise that the broadening of the definition of what is a narrative occasions fundamental theoretical innovations. Such an approach is indispensable to the understanding of interactional formats that are renewed on par with new interactional spaces. We analyze small stories of discrimination against Brazilian immigrants, collected in an opinion site, as we emphasize how notions of group identity are linguistically constructed through individual and global references.
