Abstract: Entrance into action of Tier III standards in 2016 results in the need to introduce technical tools The state support of inland water transport will allow increasing waterborne traffic volumes with the least expenses if compared to land or railway transport. The greater part of river transportation will help to improve ecological situation in the country because river vessels are rather "clean" in comparison with land vehicles and railway transport. The use of berth-based power supply while vessels are lying in harbors will result in less power consumption, lower costs of cargo traffic, higher profit and also elimination of harmful air emissions and water sediments from auxiliary engines.
