Collision preventing systems and development tendencies (to the 40-th anniversary of COLREG-72)

The structure, basic elements and the problems of the existing fuzzy system of ship collision prevention are considered. Violation of International regulations for preventing collisions at sea (COLREG) and lack of time for decision making are the problems that appear as the navigation becomes complicated. One of the ways to solve these problems is to create the systems of decision making support based on the principles of artificial intelligence. The new approaches to organizing the ship collision prevention based on the technologies of image recognizing, the information theory, fuzzy sets and multiagent systems are able to increase efficiency of the undertaken actions. The proposed intellectual technologies are the qualitative new systems of navigation organization, prevention of collision and wreck of ships which will be urgent within the next decade.
