Hepatitis somatic index of sturgeon, beluga and stellate sturgeon during the river life period

The results of the study of morpho-physiological variability of fish (by the example of stur-geon) inhabiting the Caspian Sea basin are given. The changes in the index of the fish liver over the past 40 years are shown. In accordance with the concept of S. S. Schwartz the adaptive rearrangements associated with an increase in metabolism and mobilization of protective functions are explained. The idea of the "extra energy board" for detoxification which may determine the morpho-physiological variability of fish in the present condition of water pollution is formulated.
