Comenzando por una revisión de algunos textos bíblicos neotestamentarios y continuando con una incursión en la carta de San Clemente a los corintios, el autor se empe a en presentar testimonios acerca de la autoridad de san Pedro y de sus sucesores. Este estudio se desarrolla considerando el horizonte histórico en el cual se inscriben los pasajes tratados, lo que permite descubrir la ense anza y problemática que subyace en los comienzos del cristianismo respecto a la naturaleza y misión del primado.
